Joining in with Jen over at little birdie, here are four things that are bringing smiles or laughter to me this week.
This drawing of Bob Marley that Bella did at school yesterday (It is Black History month and they are learning about Jamaica). I love it. It made me laugh out loud when she gave it to me in the playground. I have framed it.
Angus the chef - such careful chopping!
Heinz (and it has to be Heinz) tomato soup with cheese on toast - the perfect comfort food lunch for a cold and wet day.
And finally, the current series of The Thick of It. Pure comedy genius. Very dark political satire, sometimes uncomfortable, but so well written and always very, very funny. The most recent episode had John and I in stitches last night. If only all television was as good as this.

Love Bella's pic! Absolutely wonderful - so glad you've framed it! Angus chopping those velcroed vegetables reminds me so much of H at the same age. He just adored them, although woe betide things if half an aubergine or the middle part of a cucumber had disappeared! Fortunately most missing body parts of said vegetables were usually to be found by a parent grovelling under the sofa if I remember correctly! Happy days! Enjoy! I love the idea of 52 weeks of happy! E x
ReplyDeleteWe have so many missing vegetable parts. It irritates me so much! Where do they go? It's a mystery to me.
DeleteBestest picture ever! :) x
ReplyDeleteHi Gillian ... so glad you posted Bella's picture ... I was dying to see it ... it is fab ... definitely deserves the frame ... Bee xx
ReplyDeleteHello Gillian,
ReplyDeleteBella, such a artist! Love the frame too! Angus in training to take on Gordon Ramsay! And it has to be Heinz - it cost me an arm and a leg here, but it takes me back home and my childhood once in a while... (and the cheese on toast, lol!!!) No guesses what I want tomorrow!
Thank you, I like 52 week posts!
Ivan
Great happy pictures. That's a brilliant picture, I can see why you framed it. I love Heinz tomato soup with cheese on toast too! xx
ReplyDeleteBob Marley, just fab! Ada :)
ReplyDeleteThat drawing is brilliant! I'm loving The Thick of It too, one of my favourite television shows, filling the gap left from 2012 nicely x
ReplyDeleteI love that picture - so adorable. Hubby loves The Thick of it too, but I find it a bit cringe worthy. I'm definitely a blinkers on kind of girl.

What a wonderful picture, I love it! Also loving The Thick Of It, though I'm a couple of episodes behind...think I'll try to catch up tonight, I'm in the mood for a laugh! Can't bear to think about real politics, far too depressing - but it really is British comedy at its spiky, satirical best. xx
ReplyDeleteThat drawing! Amazing :) I have so many happy memories of listening to Mr Marley from the age of 15. I wish I'd know the thick of it was on last night. We watched it once....very funny!
ReplyDeleteLove Bob Marley.
ReplyDeleteLove Malcolm Tucker.
A brilliant four happy things Gillian! x
Mmm cheese on toast dipped in tomato soup.. It has to be done. Love the drawing really sweet
ReplyDeleteperfect collection - Bella's pic just splendid! x
ReplyDeleteThat is a great Bob Marley and ace writing too for 5 years old! TTOI is brilliant isn't it? So sad next week is the last one ever. A lovely set of four happies. x
ReplyDeleteBrilliant drawing by Bella! And bless Angus. Eleanor was doing a similar thing in her play kitchen today. I also love that exact lunch. I have completely gone off all tinned soup except for Heinz cream of tomato. Made a huge batch of my own veg soup today which should last us a while. The emergency freezer had to be turned on to make room for it.
ReplyDeleteHaven't watched that show but sounds good. I've not seen anything as funny lately as the series Twenty Twelve which was on earlier in the year and am sad the Olympics are over as I miss the show! xxx
I keep hearing so many good things about 2012, I wished we'd watched it now!
DeleteWhat a brilliant idea to frame Bella's drawing. So much more aesthetic than blu-tacking them to the kitchen door as I did!
ReplyDeletePeter Capaldi is magnificent. The whole series is just totally fabulous, so very very clever.
ReplyDeleteLoving the dreads on BM!

I love the Bob Marley drawing - so sweetly framed too. And I'm with you on Heniz tomato soup - perfect for when you have a cold like I do at the moment!
ReplyDeleteLove a bowl of Heinz with buttery toast, yum : -)
ReplyDeleteDitch the Heinz immeidately! You can make souper soup easily with 3 or 4 large tomatoes, an onion, a courgette, tomato puree, veggie Oxo cubes, salt, pepper and a pinch of sugar to take the acidity from the tomatoes!
ReplyDeleteSaute a chopped onion, add chopped cougette, then add the chopped tomatoes (no need ot skin them), then sufficient stock to cover, season, simmer for 20 minutes. Blend with stick blender or liquidizer. Eat and enjoy. I add fresh parmesan and fresh Basil leaves to the finished product and serve with granary bread. Dump the Heinz!!!

Yes, admittedly that recipe sounds tempting, but sometimes opening a tin is just very convenient, especially when you are hungry and in a rush and have a three year old trying to "help". Although the tomato soup is the only tinned soup I can abide, I have to say!
DeletePS Love the Bob Marley piccy! When I was a child I drew and painted a pair of Spanish Dancers (I was very much into the lovely ballet books of Lorna Hill, especially No Castanets at the Wells) and my dear Mum took it the local picture framers and had it framed specially for me. A child doesn't forget such things, having his or her work really appreciated and put on show, not just on the side of the fridge with blue tack, but in a frame on the sitting room wall. Your child's picture is nicer than anything I've seen by so-called artists such as Hirst and Emin.

Lovely Post - made me smile. I love the Thick of It and that episode was great, couldn't believe it was an hour .... it seemed so unscripted and real ... Hope there's more for you to enjoy this week. The Bob Marley pic is a masterpiece.
ReplyDeleteI heard on the radio that the actors didn;t know which questions the panel would be asking them - I think that really added to the realistic air of the whole inquiry. Brilliant stuff.
DeleteLove Bella's drawing of Bob Marley. So cute!
ReplyDeleteBob Marley! I love it! And I'm going to see if I can find a way to check out that TV show here in the US. Sounds like something the hubby and I would like.
ReplyDeleteToo funny! I'm sure bob would have loved it. As for the cheese on toast craving I know have.......
