One photo a day throughout June on Instagram. Here are twenty five of them:
- A cottage interior at Beamish.
- Bella on the beach,
- Blue skies in the back garden.
- Dahlias in the pots by the front door.
- Angus having a cuddle on the sofa after waking from a bad dream.
- A wildflower posy from the garden.
- Crocheting my throw.
- Some Liberty print washi tape.
- Lilac growing outside the church hall where Bella goes to Rainbows.
- Crunchy-nut cornflakes for breakfast.
- Afternoon jigsaws with Angus.
- Weekend cuddles in bed.
- Decorating a cake with smarties.
- More wildflower love.
- Making lemon curd.
- Coffee in the garden.
- Prettifying the mantle.
- The bright evening sun taken looking out of Bella's bedroom window.
- The ceiling of our local bookshop.
- York Minster.
- Blocking the throw.
- A pretty fence.
- Lasagna and red wine on a Friday night.
- The Yorkshire Dales.
- Macaroons.
I've been having enormous fun with Instagram lately. I started using it in April and have been taking photos more and more until it became a daily thing. Just one a day, like a little photo journal. It's such a liberating way to take photographs; no need to think about light levels, or focus, or where the lens cap is (usually in the back pocket of my jeans), just a quick click on the phone. I love to play with the filters and effects. I especially like the way it captures the everyday. Lots of what you see above I've blogged about, but it's more of a behind the scenes look at my life. But Instagram is what it is - diverting, fun, easy, effortless, instant. But it's not blogging, which will always be my first love.
Now I've got my new camera I'm going to start Project Life (I think!) when I get back from holiday. I photo a day - instead of trying to scrap book in a more grand way - where I always seem to be running a year behind!
ReplyDeleteLooks a lovely month. x
Oh I am so tempted by Instagram ... need to acquire a fancy new phone first though ;) ... I love all your little photos ... looks like a really lovely month ... Bee xx
ReplyDeleteHi, what a great idea, I have not quite got into instagram yet, bit of a late adopter, this has inspired me to maybe document the school holidays. A friend of mine did one daily for a year when she splashed out on a DSLR and it is brilliant. katie xx
ReplyDeleteReally lovely photos. I am a recent convert to Instagram and am loving it too - such a lovely way to catch snippets of everyday life x
ReplyDeleteYour photos are lovely! I'm not familiar with Instagram being a bit technology phobic myself, but it ounces interesting and a great way to capture little moments.

I like the idea of a photo a day for a month. It may throw up some surprises. I like the behind the scenes stuff. Making the everyday special.
ReplyDeleteLeanne xx
What fun, I'm new to it too! I love that it's so quick and easy, and I get to nose into other people's days while I'm there. Coming to stalk you...! x
ReplyDeletep.s. super jealous of that washi tape!
I haven't tried it because I don't have a phone capable, maybe someday. I like your photos though, they're very interesting and it's fun to look at little snapshots of life this way.
ReplyDeleteI can understand the attraction and your photos are a great journal of your everyday life! I'm glad blogging is your first love thought :-)
ReplyDeleteStephanie
What an excellent idea. I'm intrigued by instagram, may have to think about taking the plunge :) xx
ReplyDeleteDon't they look great together, those Yourshire Dales are calling me, and that Liberty washi tape is grinning at me! :) x
ReplyDeleteMy daughter keeps tempting me with Instagram - she's already got me on Pinterest - but there just aren't enough hours in the day!! I know I'll give in to it eventually :-D
ReplyDeleteI love the thought of a photo journal... and I love taking photos...
ReplyDeleteI'm thinking it's time for me to join instagram!
Love your photos!!

I may have to take the Instagram plunge, too! All of your photos are lovely... especially the cottage interior at Beamish!
ReplyDeletefun to peek at!
ReplyDeletei really ought to instagram more. i was doing it a lot months ago and then just didn't bother. but little snippets of our everyday would be fascinating years from now.
These "behind the scenes" are wonderful. I really like the image with smarties.
ReplyDeleteI thought I followed you though, but I didn't see your photos. Need to check.
How do you transfer images from instagram elsewhere?
If you have a flikr account I believe you can upload you images onto flikr and Instagram at the same time, and then transport them from flikr onto the your laptop or pc. I used Instaport which quickly copied and moved them all onto my laptop, where I could then tinker with them and make mosaics etc. x
DeleteHow fun! I might try it one of these days. I love the idea of journaling through pictures. Just a visual journal. Love it :) great pictures.
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely mosaic - A pic a day is such a great idea, thanks for the inspiration :-)
ReplyDeleteXx
Lovely collection and great idea to document the month in photos. x
ReplyDeleteA great idea to document day to day life this way. I haven't joined instagram, perhaps I should have a look at what it's all about.
ReplyDeleteI love Instagram - it has taken over from my efforts at project 365, which I eventually completed on my fourth attempt. It doesn't feel nearly so much effort when it is just a snap on the phone.
ReplyDeleteBut I do wonder if it has removed a little of my compulsion to blog.
I've heard so much about Instagram but haven't explored it as yet. It's the second post I've read about it today so maybe it's time. Love the idea of a photo a day I think I already do that so it's a great way to look back on a month. Love all your images and yes the Yorkshire dales are up there for me with your favourite colour yellow and the washi tapes and and and. Love it!! Thanks for sharing always such a pleasure to read your posts! Wishing you a lovely week lovely Gillian xoxo

ReplyDeleteKP has just discovered Instagram and been putting some of her and my photos on it. I'll have to ask her to tell me more about how to do things as I'm a bit of a dinosaur when it comes to technology. Love your images.
ReplyDeleteJune
So glad to see you have Smarties in Britain. I thought they were only Canadian.
ReplyDeleteHi Gillian, I am still getting to grips with blogging. Am still waiting for my camera to be delivered. Instagram sounds intriguing but I am going to wait for my brain to catch up with my fingers I think. One for the future. But I love looking at your photos.
ReplyDeleteGillian... on instagram? I must go find you. I love instagram, or hipstergram as they affectionately call it in our house :) And your photos do look fab, isn't it great looking back over collections like that? Hazel x
