A Very Rainy Trip to the Farm

I'd arranged to meet up with my very good friend Debora this morning. She recently moved away to Sheffield so we chose a meeting place half way between Sheffield and Leeds, a farm we'd both been to before with a fantastic playground, cafe, lots to see and do. A place I'd been before (in the summer). Today it was bitterly cold and poured with rain all day. We were the only people in the farm. The cafe was full of older people enjoying tea and cake and sensibly staying inside.

Angus was thrilled to see Debora's youngest son Alex, his little playmate, and they ran around and chattered and screamed and jumped in puddles. They climbed a bit on the wet playground equipment and looked at all the animals and the highlight of the morning was when a tractor drove by and the driver waved at them both.

Of course we were soaking wet and freezing, but seeing how they loved it did make it bearable. More than bearable. A really lovely day.

  5. Dear Gillian
Sounds like a great day despite the rain and cold. Being out in it and then coming back inside to the warmth is also great!
The photos of Angus in the tunnels and puddles made me smile.
    Best wishes

  9. Well, it certainly looks like Angus is having fun in that puddle, definitely worth braving the rain for. Congratulations on completing the Abbey Dash and beating last years time, quite an accomplishment.

  12. Sounds fab, having a whole farm to yourselves to run around in! Like when they close down TopShop on Oxford street for Christina Aguilera or someone. And thanks for your comment about having boys. I needed a little reassurance! X

  13. Children don't seem to mind the wind and the rain, do they. It's only us adults who are bothered! Glad you had a great day out. The weather here is pretty miserable.

  14. Hello Gillian,
Am I right in thinking Angus likes splashing in water! (remembering the fountain from before!) Looks a great place, even in the rain - those tubes look like fun also!

  16. It has been so wet and blustery here too - you were brave venturing out, but a meet with a friend is the best reason I can think of. I love that little head peeking out and I love, love, love puddles.
