Long and Low

A lovely walk at Kirkstall Abbey today. Cold air and warm sun, the best combination. The light is lower and brighter, the shadows long even at midday. There are more bare branches now, more leaves on the ground than the trees. It's damp underfoot and my feet were cold. It smells like autumn.

  1. It would seem that the cold is creeping in quite quickly up there in the northern hemisphere!!! Down here in the south, we are having the most glorious summer weather!!! Hope you have a happy weekend!!

  2. Lovely photos Gillian and the weather must have really turned for you since we got back to Oz. We drove past the Abbey many times on our way home to my brother-in-laws, but didn't stop off this time, although I have been before. Take care.

  3. It was lovely to be outside today--bright sunshine, mild weather. We were at the botanical garden this morning and I noticed too that there were more leaves on the ground than on the trees! Love the photo of the abbey against the blue sky. x

  4. Lovely photos Gillian. We had the first dry day in a while today but I didn't take my camera. Typical. x

  5. Lovely autumnal photos. The leaves from our walnut tree are really falling now but they smell wonderful as we sweep them up!

  10. Lovely pics of a lovely autumn day Gillian. We weren't so lucky here in Kent today, a wet and miserable start. Love the shadow pic.

  16. Lovely photos, the light is beautiful. We've been lucky with the weather in London at the beginning of the week but grey skies are definitely here today!

  17. Such beautiful autumn light, it looks like a wonderful day. I'm hoping for a glimpse of sun today. Last night was the murkiest night imaginable, just right for almost-Hallowe'en. CJ xx
