Spindrift: the spray that is blown from the top of a breaking wave in high winds.
It was wild down at the beach today. We were swaddled in layers and braced ourselves, heads down, as we walked into the howling wind. Then we went back to the beach hut to drink the thermos of hot chocolate and eat some cake.
I still can't quite believe that we live here and that we get to do things like this at the weekend.
We feel like that when we go to the cabin. It is 15 mins from our house but feels a million miles away. Your blog photos will change this year with seascapes, keep the camera rolling. Jo x
ReplyDeleteI'm so very glad that you do.
ReplyDeleteHow gorgeous! Love the yellow wellies too.
ReplyDeleteIt's wonderful to live by the sea, isn't it? You and me both!

I think you'll be spending a lot of time there, at the sea, now it's so close...
ReplyDeleteHow is the househunt coming along ? (if I were you, I would enjoy a little bit longer the comforts of staying in "the mom-hotel" ;-))
So lucky! :-) (and happy for you!)
ReplyDeleteOh how I love the beach in winter. Bracing but so brilliant.

ReplyDeleteWell I didn't know there was a special word for the spray off the waves! Now you are a coastal person I shall expect more technical seasidey words! ;-) xx
ReplyDeleteI am so excited that you live by the sea now... lucky you!!
ReplyDeleteOh it's wonderful, I'm so happy for you. It will maybe feel like being on holiday for a little while. It looks very bracing down at the sea at the moment. But the winter coast is such a beautiful place to be. CJ xx
ReplyDeleteLook at you living by the sea! I'm so envious and what a fantastic word. Enjoy every moment. x
ReplyDeleteLovely and wild looking and quite envious you are so close to the coast. I do miss being able to get to Inverloch in under an hour and walk along the beach. Take care.
ReplyDeleteLucky lucky lucky you!!! Am tinged with green I admit, but soooo happy for you as it seems you have landed back where you belong and your heart and soul will thank you for making that bold move. One thing - if your parents don't mind, pleeeeeeeease can you share some more visuals of your beach hut?? I adore beach huts and it's always been a dream of mine (caravan is a pretty good second best though). Sending much love and happiness to you for a great year ahead xxxxx
ReplyDeleteHello you! It's half empty as it's all shut up for winter now, but I took these last summer:

I used to live in a small village on the coast of N.Ireland. I loved it when the summer visitors went home and when the gales blew. The sea can be so dramatic. Just learnt the definition of spindrift too. You live and learn!
ReplyDeleteHow wonderful! And the beach hut sounds so cosy! Enjoy! X
ReplyDeleteSuch beautiful photos, and so right that you are back there! I'm actually aching to be at a beech seeing these. Xxx
ReplyDeleteI have not heard of this before, so interesting though! Beautiful photographs too and how wonderful that you are already out and making the most of these new opportunities that your move has bought. I hope that the viewing went well yesterday. xx
ReplyDeleteWoho! These pictures are amazing! Make me missing being close to the sea!
ReplyDeleteTake care

How wonderful to be able to do this at weekends! Here in Shropshire we are a long, long way from any coast and I am green with envy. Thank you for this glimpse. x
ReplyDeleteReally Gillian?! You have now made everyone totally seaside jealous! The hot chocolate sealed the deal! :)
ReplyDeleteCold, bracing, but oh so stimulating! How lucky to be able to see a side of the sea that the summer visitors would miss out on!

ReplyDeleteOh, I wish we lived by the sea. I think we need a trip to Filey on a cold day so that we can walk on the Brigg and get blasted by the wind. Exhilarating.
ReplyDeleteIt looks and sounds perfect (the hot chocolate and cake in the hut bit). What a change for you, but being able to go to the beach every week, that's pretty cool!! I'm quite jealous right now!!
