The happiest people don't have the best of everything, they just make the best of everything.
I little late this week - it's been so busy! But a good, productive sort of busy. Joining in with the lovely Jen at little birdie, I give you this week's happy* things:
1. Tulips. My favourite flower, these always make me ridiculously happy.
2. New fabrics on the wall.
3. Saturday morning breakfasts. Today: wholewheat blueberry pancakes with berry jam and greek yogurt.
4. A NEW DISHWASHER!!! Our old one broke just before Christmas and, finally, a new one was installed this week. It's not the prettiest photo, but boy it makes me happy!
5. A sneaky fifth - my lovely Mum, who went back home today after a week long visit. It was a treat to see her for so long and she was a HUGE help; painting, cooking, ironing, playing, reading stories, more painting, and just generally being amazing.
I hope you are all well. It's so cold and grey here today, it's been half raining and half sleeting all afternoon. Very depressing. I tried to take some photos of the new white wall in the bedroom but it was just so gloomy, every thing looked grainy and washed out. I'll try again tomorrow.
*Happy, yes, but not very well photographed. Sorry. I blame the endlessly cloudy weather.
I am really enjoying your blog. So Thank You for being out there in the creative space that Blogland gives us crafty folk.
ReplyDeleteIt is funny I never used to like tulips but I took a trip to Amsterdam and totally fell in love with them. The Kerkenhoff gardens were just amazing one sunny day 10 years ago.
I am so glad you have had a lovely time with your Mum. She sounds just about perfect. My Mum was too. X
Lovely happy pics :) - love the saying at the top too - that is me at the moment :)
ReplyDeleteCan understand the dishwasher thing - when our last one died it was awful - luckily we managed to get a new one pretty quickly thanks to come pre-christmas sales :)
Those pancakes look delish, none for me though, I'm trying to shed a few pounds. Our dishwasher broke last year but we didn't buy a new one for months because Mick was enjoying washing up. It's a novelty these days after having a dishwasher for so long. We've now got a new one though. Pleased to hear that you enjoyed the week with your mum.
ReplyDeleteTulips are my favourite, too.
ReplyDeleteHappy new dishwasher!
Mums are special, aren't they? I miss mine so much.
Tulips are beautiful. I just wish they lasted a little longer. Your pancakes look delicious. I love blueberries they are one of my favorites. I admire your mugs. I have noticed you have lots of Emma Bridgewater ones that have been pictured in many photos. They are so pretty I am adding one of those to my wish list. I am glad you were able to replace your dishwasher. They are handy to have when you have children at home. I hope you have a lovely weekend!
ReplyDeleteTulips are so wonderful. I didn't buy any this week but I will probably buy some next time I shop. Enjoy the new dishwasher, how exciting!

ReplyDeleteHi, Gillian!
ReplyDeleteTulips are wonderful flowers! Those pink ones are so pretty :)
Those pancakes look so yumm!!!
Have a fab week and don't get upset coz of the weather, the sun is always with us :)
I lvE tulips also. And blueberries for breakfast...yummy, they are my favorite. Love the new dishwasher. The small joys of life.
ReplyDeleteMy dishwasher also makes me very happy! When we moved from Edinburgh to Cape Town our new kitchen was too small for a dishwasher. When we finally decided to move to a house last year one of the main requirements was that the new place had space for a dishwasher. I didn't used to mind washing dishes but going from having one to not having one drove me insane. Especially with a messy little person about. (Gosh, I have spent way too long commenting about a dishwasher. Must find new interests ;-)
