Hello there! I hope you're all enjoying the weekend. It's very cold and sunny here. I took Bella and Angus to the park this morning and I think it was the first time we'd been there in weeks - this time last week it was all under inches of snow.
So, my wee challenge to complete one "make" from each issue of Mollie Makes magazine continues. This particular make was one of those highly enjoyable crafty affairs that takes little time or cost and can be achieved in a couple of hours. Last Saturday afternoon I made a cup of tea, turned on the radio, sat down at the table and made these little leaves with some leftover fabric scraps. Lovely. They are sewn together with wire down the middle to give structure and act as a hook, then some simple stitching is added to show the leaf veins which gives a lovely quilted effect.
I think the feel of this project was supposed to be autumnal but I'm five months late so we'll call them spring leaves, shall we? For now they hang on some pussy willow which sits in a vase in the living room and they add a little cheerful, fluttery colour to an otherwise dull and grey corner.
Ah, spring, it will come, it will...

How lovely those colourful leaves are...!! The fabric you've used is perfect, a very sweet, simple project :)
ReplyDeleteThey look lovely! I must admit that I have got lots of Mollie Makes magazines but have never made anything from them. I really should try a bit harder :O)xx
ReplyDeleteJust found you through Jen at Little Birdie, lookig forward to following.Lovely Leaves.
ReplyDeleteWow these are gorgeous. I bought the Mollie Makes today :) Where did you get your willow from? I'd really like something similar for my lounge :)
ReplyDeleteHi Linda. I bought it in the flower section at M&S about a year ago! I never put it in water but just left it to dry out and it still looks fine.

What pretty little leaves, such a simple idea but so effective especially hung on the pussy willow. Sue
ReplyDeleteLovely and a quick project too - instant satisfaction. Like your tip about drying pussy willow out too thanks!
ReplyDeleteOh very pretty! I love them hanging on the branches. x

I like your spring leaves, they suit their bright colours and funky patterns! A definite push towards sunnier (and please) warmer days! x
ReplyDeleteWhat fun! And you have pussy willow already ... I'm watching for the buds here but we're not quite there yet.
ReplyDeleteAh, just read your comment. Whenever I leave pussy willow in water it roots, something my kids used to love seeing happen when they were small :)
DeleteI have never tried leaving it in water - I like the sound of watching it root. I'll look out for some more fresh pussy willow and try that. Thanks Annie. x
DeleteThey look so good and really cheerful. I had no idea pussy willow could be dried - so thanks for that. I love the whole look and may give it a spin! (on my sewing machine!!) Have a good Sunday...

These are LOVELY! :) x
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely project. So lovely using the pussy willow too, so tactile, I wouldn't be able to resist stroking it as I passed by.

ReplyDeleteI may even be able to have a go at these myself!! Lovely xx
So pretty ... I love them on the willow ... Bee xx
ReplyDeleteThose leaves are so cute, and you have inspired me to make some. I have decided to leave my small Christmas tree up all year and decorate it with seasonal decorations. I'll be making some fabric leaves pretty soon. Right now it's decorated with valentines.
ReplyDeleteThey are adorable. Please can I have a copy of the instructions! Sounds like the perfect (quick and not too difficult) project for me. And I am sure spring will come REAL SOON!!!!
ReplyDeleteI.cannot.believe.it...
ReplyDeleteI feel really stupid right now.
I have the issue with the leaves tucked into my "autumn" folder.
Not being smart like you, I was waiting for next fall to make them.
Excuse me while I go get the magazine along with some spring remnants
and get started :)
They look great hung on the branches. Really nice display x
ReplyDeleteVery pretty, I love the way they look on the branches.

These look so pretty and I'm particularly taken with the turquoise fabric. I stopped buying Mollie Makes as there was rarely anything I wanted to make - maybe it's time for another look. x
ReplyDeleteGorgeous - where are your favourite fabric emporiums - you always have such beautiful ones?
ReplyDeleteI just love these leaves and the catkins, such a pretty decoration! I would keep these up all year round. Heather x
ReplyDeleteDefinitely not only autumnal! Fantastic colours for the changing seasons! I love the pussy willow too - it looks fantastic! I subscribed to the first year of Mollie Makes and as much as I loved looking at it, I never made anything. It's been quite inspiring looking at all your makes! x
ReplyDeleteOh this is gorgeous! Very Spring-y and a great way to use up little bits of fabric x
ReplyDeleteLove them, and the material!
ReplyDeleteThese are gorgeous! And the fabrics are perfect for Spring...love them (especially the green!) We are having a nice sunny, but cold weekend!
ReplyDeletelovely! i was at my favorite grocery store last week and saw an issue of Mollie Makes and thought of you! i almost bought it as a treat to myself, but realized that i have no time to craft and it would end up being a big tease. so it stayed there. at least this way i can craft vicariously through you!
ReplyDeleteThey are so pretty.

So sweet. Isn't it amazing what colors can do for one in the late winter? These really make me smile! We are about to move back to New England where the leaves tickled me all year around as they changed with every season. Here in Idaho, I don't seem to notice the change of season as drastically as we did there. I'm ready to go buy some beautiful fabric and make these!
ReplyDeleteThese are so sweet!
ReplyDeleteThey look great Gillian! So cheery and colourful :-) x
ReplyDeletethey are so sweet.......lovely fabrics perfect for spring.
ReplyDeletewishing you a nice day,
regina
