The happiest people don't have the best of everything, they just make the best of everything.
Joining in with the lovely Jen at little birdie, here are my current happy-making moments:
1. A bundle of pretty fat quarters of vintage fabric, courtesy of Ada from Vintage Sheet Addict. It's part of a little swap of goodies we sent each other and you can see what I sent her here. Thank you, Ada, they are gorgeous.
2. Today's lunch - leftover Colcannon from Sunday's dinner mixed with lots more kale and served with a poached egg. Healthy-ish, satisfying and tasty but not too heavy, and it makes a nice change from soup.
3. Last Sunday afternoon...a little cosy highlight of my week. I sat on the sofa with one small person each side of me and crocheted the afternoon away while we watched the first Harry Potter film on tv. Angus would not let his new Lego moon buggy out of his sight, and Bella was engrossed with some game involving seven Barbie dolls. John was in the kitchen, cooking away, and it was one of those blissful moments when everyone is occupied and happy and content.
4. Ginger tea, which is soothing my sore throat. I am fighting off a cold (the Colcannon will help with that, surely!) and have been drinking gallons of the stuff.
Also - Jen and I recently discovered that, not only to we live in the same corner of Leeds, but our children attend the same school! A very lovely surprise. (And, you know, she's even more lovely in real life than you'd imagine from her blog). We have chatted at the school gate and might even manage a proper coffee like real grown ups soon. I hope you're all having a good week. I'll be back tomorrow with something for Valentine's Day, and I have three crafty projects on the go which I want to show you.
I'll leave you with a photo I just took of the view from my window. To think I was hanging my washing on the line last week...spring, you teased us! I'm off to make more tea.
Yes, the snow's back here too. How lovely to find a bloggy friend living so close. Can't wait to see what you make with the fat quarters, and I love the swap that you sent too.

ReplyDeleteLovely snowy picture - but I'm glad it's not reached us! I'm still delusional that Spring is close by - the sun is out and I have 4 daffodils and a crocus in flower in the garden. :)
