The happiest people don't have the best of everything, they just make the best of everything.
Joining in with Jen at little birdie, here are a few of the things that have brought me happiness this week:
1. Snow! It's still an unusual enough occurrence here and, Southerner that I am, I get quite excited. We had a couple of inches on Monday and what's left has been frozen solid by days of hard frosts and sub-zero temperatures. More is promised over the weekend. The kids would love to build a snowman.
2. My ski-jacket. I bought this a few years ago when we had our first really cold winter. I have never skied in my life but when I put this on I am so thankful for it's warmth, especially when I'm trudging to and from school.
3. We've booked a holiday! Well, more like a short break. And one without kids, even better.
4. I am thrilled to report that I've upgraded my tired old phone with it's useless camera for something a bit fancier. We've had lots of fun exploring the world of apps and asking it what the temperature is in Copenhagen and other such nonsense.
I hope you are all staying warm and having a good week. The good thing about the snow is that it distracts me from the January blues. Yesterday it was sunny and the combination of the sun and snow meant that the house was filled with bright, pale light. Lovely.
Oh lucky you ... Copenhagen ... I am very jealous :) ... I hope you both have an absolute ball ... and I bet you are very thankful for that ski jacket with the weather you're having ... I think we might have some snow over the next few days .... brrrrr ... Bee xx
ReplyDeleteNo snow here, just freezing cold. I'm so jealous! Copenhagen- wow, enjoy x Love your new phone too :) Happy week x
ReplyDeleteCopenhagen ... colour me green!!! Lucky, lucky you :)
ReplyDeleteI'm looking at new phones here too, ridiculously purely for the cameras ... I fine wielding a DSLR in public places can be rather limiting!
Ooo Copenhagen. it's a great city. Take lots of photos for us!!
ReplyDeleteI feel the same way about my down jacket. it's so cosy and warm, but I haven't had a chance to wear it, because I cycle to work. I might get a chance this weekend because it will be very cold indeed.
Copenhagen! You lucky duck - I've always wanted to go. And without the kids too! Can't wait to read all about it. x
ReplyDeleteCopenhagen sounds lovely and with just the two of you...what a special treat! I recently upgraded my very old phone to an iPhone...I love it! Enjoy the snow!
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely treat for you! Escaping without children, as much as I love mine, the prospect of having a few days just as me...lovely! :) x
ReplyDeleteGoodness your snowy pic looks cold - certainly ski jacket weather and no mistake! There's something lovely about enjoying anticipating a holiday as well as actually going on it - enjoy every minute! You'll love the iPhone - I confess I have taken almost all the pics on my blog with mine - the resolution is about right and although I don't have the latest version, the camera is very good. Happy moments indeed! E x
ReplyDeleteI have to say it's not an iPhone (a bit out of our budget) but an LG Nexus. No idea what that actually means, but the camera is very handy. x
DeleteJust caught up with all your posts.
ReplyDeleteI'm sure you'll be wearing your fab new cowl a lot the way the weather seems to be going!
I have to admit I'm another snooper when those books come home from school too, lovely for the children to have, but a bit of a pain too!
A break away to Copenhagen sounds totally fabulous, I bet you are counting down the days.

What a fabulous trip you've got planned, and children free too. You'll be glad of your ski jacket over the weekend if the forecast is right.
ReplyDeleteWhat a happy week ... and one that is going to create more happy weeks and memories!! x
ReplyDeleteWhat a great destination for a romantic break, something to look forwards to also! Enjoy your new phone.

Hi Gillian, a warm padded coat is a must for me too in this weather and I love the light created by snow , even if it's not sunny it's still wonderful.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy planning your break.
Jacquie x
Copenhagen will be brilliant, lucky you! And you will definitely appreciate your ski jacket if this weekend's snow materialises, it has been snowing here for a couple of hours so the boys are hoping school will be shut so they too can indulge in a bit of snowman building and sledging tomorrow!
ReplyDeleteI just inherited my husband's old iPhone - how did I ever live without one? Enjoy Copenhagen!
ReplyDeleteOooh, a holiday without kids! You lucky woman. We had our first nights away from ours last summer, when we traveled a couple of hours away to Taos for a weekend. I'm looking forward to doing it again sometime soon and to go even further away next time we do! :)
ReplyDeleteSend some of that snow my way! High 30s here today. Ergh...
ReplyDeletehi, Gillian! very happy for you happiness:)hehe
ReplyDeletesmall things can make us feel better. well, Copenhagen trip will be great, I'm sure :)

Warm hugs,

How exciting that you've booked a holiday away, now that's something to look forward to.
ReplyDeleteSounds lovely - and Copenhagen; amazing! It's on my must-go-to-list - we're hoping to go this Springtime - because everything I hear about it makes me desperate to visit. Have you seen the Designsponge.com 'places' section? They have a visitors guide to Copenhagen written by a local and focusing on design, crafts, great eateries and things to do... definitely worth a look. Have a lovely (snowy!) weekend... it's falling thickly here and looks beautiful, though I think nursery collection may be by sledge later.... x
ReplyDeleteKate, thank you for that. I've had a look and am now even more excited! x
DeleteWow, Copenhagen! You lucky lucky ducks! I hope your new phone doesn't get taken over by the kids like mine has. Mine is hardly recognisable anymore with all their lego apps, angry birds, fancy pants.....And pleeeease send some of that beautiful snow down to us to get rid of all these bushfires x
ReplyDeleteooh, Copenhagen... cool! We hoping to visit soon too, we've been saving up those nectar points like nobody's business, soon we should have enough! :) x
ReplyDeleteomgoodness, a break without kids, somewhere in my distant distant future lol
ReplyDeletewe're seeing the first flutters of snow here. enjoy your weekend!
Hi!
ReplyDeleteLucky girl. I'd kill for a holiday somewhere right now. I have been thinking about a new phone too, but they are sooo expensive and I do't call that much. It would be just a very pricey toy for me!
So envious about your trip. funnily enough we've been thinking about going north for our next city break so I'm looking forward to hearing all about it in case it's somewhere for us to visit. Not this year though - still feeling skint from replacing the car last year :-(
ReplyDeleteI love your old phone case with its princess themed stickers. :)
ReplyDeleteA trip away with the hubs sounds delightful.
Stay warm!
Jenny
i would LOVE some snow here! just a little bit :)
ReplyDeleteSo warm we are swooning in 40 degree heat in these parts!! I love this 52 weeks thing...wish that I were a bit more organised to join in!
ReplyDeleteI have holiday envy - Copenhagen is a place I dream of visiting. You'll have such a ball. Welcome to smartphone world, it's very exciting isn't it!
