:: It's still winter out there despite the lack of snow and the arrival of daffodils everywhere.
:: An amazing, delicious Cornish pasty for lunch on a bitterly cold day.
:: Testing tester pots. (And yes, the lounge roof does slope, it's not your eyes. Another quirky sixties design feature...)
:: They can't believe they're allowed to scoot indoors.
:: Bye bye Mickey - Bella has plans for this room.
:: Acrylic felt was a bad idea. I'm making another fox in wool felt.
:: Early morning light at Mum's.
:: Trying something new - crocheting with parcel string, to make a shopping bag.
:: Portchester village, full of charm and quirky, pretty properties.
:: A walk around Portchester Castle.
:: One up, one down.
:: Angus wishes he'd worn his wellies.
:: Bird watching.
:: Flat calm.
:: My love.
And that is what the memory card in my camera held from the last seven days. Different houses, inside, outside, exploring the local area. A bit of everything. The stuff of life.
Scooting indoors - lucky children! I hope the move to your new home goes well. x
ReplyDeleteA great 7 days! So sad about Mr Fox though!! I hope that the new one will be alright and perhaps you can repair Mark 1 for occasional or ornamental use! xx
ReplyDeleteWow pickle would love to scoot indoors!x great pictures.xx
ReplyDeleteSo lovely that you are able to live in a home until your new one becomes one!!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great selection of photos. I love the fox, it will look great made out of proper felt!
ReplyDeleteI love the idea of crocheting a market bag out of string, I'll have to remember that one. I hope all the DIY goes well, it will be lovely when you can move into your new happy home!!
ReplyDeleteAha, real Cornish pasties must be crimped around the edge, so they end up D-shaped. This is so they could be held by the crimping when miners ate them down the mine with grubby hands. They could then discard the crimped portion. But tasty nonetheless, but not a true Cornish pasty (although the ingredients might be correct!)
ReplyDeleteThat is a lovely large sitting room! Oh, to be a child and scoot around like that. Utter bliss!

Wonderful stuff. Love seeing the kids scoot indoors.
ReplyDeleteHave a lovely week! X
Scooting indoors - fabulous! We've got the sloping roof in our 60s house too :-) xx
ReplyDeleteLobe your photo's. Funnily enough I picked up a crochet book in the charity shop today, and one of the projects I have marked to try is a string shopping bag. X
ReplyDeleteGreat photos, I made a shopper from string, I used green and hessian and white. It was fab, yours will be too. Jo x
ReplyDeleteOoooh, that pasty made my mouth water, I shouldn't have looked whilst I was hungry. Love the idea of the crochet shopping bag. Your children seem to be having great fun in their new surroundings.
ReplyDeleteBrilliant, being able to scoot indoors! It reminds me of when we moved into our house, kids scooting up and down the hall. And we had a stannah stair lift too, which they loved riding up and down on! x
ReplyDeleteI love the tester patches on the wall - some lovely colours there. The title of your last photo also made me smile; so sweet. x
ReplyDeleteCornish pasty, yum! Love those. And I know what you mean about acrylic felt. Wool is so much nicer.
ReplyDeleteYou'll have a great spring making your new home your own :)

Aah, an indoor skate park, wonderful. Forget the furniture, just put in a few ramps. A little tip for trying out tester pots, paint them onto paper and blu-tack them to the walls. That way you can avoid any lumpy patches of extra paint on the wall, like the ones I have in my hall for example... I shall look forward to seeing your crocheted string bag, it's something I've thought about doing as well, they always look so sturdy and long-lasting. It looks like you've had a good seven days, I especially like the look of the big outdoors, all that sky and water and birds. And the pasty of course. CJ xx
ReplyDeleteScooting indoors, what a novel idea!
ReplyDeleteI'm sure Bella has very firm ideas of what she'd like, she has a very good eye.
Porchester Castle is very much on our to visit list this year. We were going to go last year but it never happened for one reason or another, it's going to happen this year!

Look forward to seeing your finished string bag. Have a good week!

ReplyDeleteI love the idea of the string bag but is it hard on your hands to crochet string? Home-made pasties for our supper tonight after seeing your post. I'll make a batch for the freezer too.
ReplyDeleteSuch a lovely week.
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Meredith
A lovely lots of life in those pics, You reminded me of my Mum always telling us not to rollerskate in the house, even though Dawn at Number 73 on the TV always did, hope everythings going to plan with the house

Love your photos this week. I so wished we lived closer to the sea. Can't wait to see your new home when you are all settled.
ReplyDeleteSome great pics Gillian. How are you finding crocheting with string? I knitted a little square container with it a few years ago but it made my fingers so sore. Looks like Bella is tackling the decorating with gusto, can I borrow her please? :o) Enjoy the rest of your week xx
ReplyDeleteIt made for a good post Gillian! Great pics and it's nice to see a few more glimpses of the house. But most of all - Oh noooeeesss! Poor Mr Fox! 0.0

ReplyDeleteSeven days of good things...I like it! Congratulations on the new house! How exciting and I bet the kids just loved being allowed to scooter around indoors.

I think this is the best kind of blogging, just looking back at the everyday things you did over a period of time and pausing to enjoy them. I really like those photos of morning at your mum's house. She has fabulous taste in chairs. :)
ReplyDeleteLots of lovely memories, all very different xx
ReplyDeleteLovely, it feels a calm, loving week! I'm sure there is a lot of busy too! The children must be settling into a new school, so I hope that is going well. Xxx
ReplyDeleteSounds pretty busy! 😊 i always want to try crochet with yute but i haven t tried it yet. Does the yarn hurt on the hands?
ReplyDeleteTake care Anne

Love it! The kids must be having so much fun taking wallpaper off, painting etc.. and scooting indoors!!
ReplyDeleteAll that going on and you're making a fox as well...... Anyhoo, if I bring my scooter down can I have a go? What am I saying, I don't have a scooter, but if I had your house I might just go and get one.
ReplyDeleteBut will they always be able to scoot around the lounge, that is the question?
ReplyDeleteYou have really seemed to have settled into your new surroundings and you are discovering some lovely things. All very exciting!
Such lovely photos from the past seven days! My daughter would be crazy for the Minnie Mouse wall! I can't wait to see how Bella decorates her new room. I love the morning light photos at your Mum's house. I also love her pretty tablecloth!
ReplyDeleteIsn't it lovely how a memory card can so easily tell the tale of our lives. Beautiful photos. I love seeing the sea in your pictures. Bee xx
ReplyDeletebeautiful post , lovely blog ;)x
ReplyDeleteLooks like a busy week, exciting to be redecorating and renovating! I love the process of choosing the colours and features...the actual process I like less, but it'll make all the difference having the spring sunshine gleaming through the windows soon! x
ReplyDeleteMaking me smile this morning.
ReplyDeleteI'm a bit late commenting, (we've been away), but those pics were great, showing what goes on, in ones week. Hope the house decorating is turning out OK. Take care.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing the last seven days with us. It must be exciting to have begun remodeling. I can't believe you have daffodils already!
ReplyDeleteIt looks like you are having such a great time and making this experience such a great one for you and your family. It will be great to decorate and make your new house your home. When will you be moving into your new home. We just moved in about 7 months ago and we still have so much to do ... Taking baby steps make the journey better and more enjoyable I find out ... Hope you are enjoying your journey my friend.
ReplyDeleteI do love a pasty as well. Great pictures of the morning light - I'm really feeling the benefit of having a little bit more daylight but not so much to see the girls getting up before 5am! I'm intrigued to see the finished crocheted bag on the blog too xxx
ReplyDeleteso much loveliness in this post! just fabulous!! your photos are incredible :)
ReplyDeleteWe go to porchester castle at least once a week, it's great isn't it?! I knit dishcloths out of string - relatively cheap and environmentally friendly! I hope you're all back to normal for the start of school next week
