A blindingly bright and beautiful September morning. The sun is warm and the air a little cool. It's not summer anymore but it's not autumn yet either. A new day and a new school year. Shiny new shoes and empty book bags, waiting to be filled. The house is too quiet, too empty, but the sense of space and peace is welcome. I wander around the house, doing chores, imposing order on the mess, looking for the light.
That is so simple yet so lovely to read.
ReplyDeleteI totally agree - simple - and such a joy to read. Love the photos!

It is nice to get some peace back after the long holidays, isn't it? Lovely photos.
ReplyDeleteBut you really missed them, right? I found today a harder day than yesterday; my lads went back to school and it was really the end of the summer hols. They didn't last long enough, did we do enough, how come that's another year over already (and my eldest is in 6th form? No? How did that happen? Last year he was just starting school.... Time flies) I know come next week I'll be back in the groove, but until then I need to cut some slack and seek my little happies where I can.
ReplyDeleteI bet it was lovely to see them at home time x hasn't it been a lovely day. Thanks for all the IG likes and comments. I'm enjoying the new term feel, especially in balmy weather like this x
ReplyDeleteLovely post - your two are growing up fast! Happy new school year xo
ReplyDeleteAnother school year begins and you realise how they are growing up. Lovely post and take care.
ReplyDeleteIt has been lovely here too. The sun is lower in the sky and the nights are drawing in. Love Bella and Angus in the morning sunlight.

Lovely photos - we are a week ahead, so Matt has now gone down with a cold! Obligatory at the start of term! Hope they have enjoyed the beginning of the new school year. x
ReplyDeleteLovely, light filled photos! Angus and Bella look so cute in their school outfits. I was so happy to turn the calendar over and welcome September yesterday. So happy and thankful for this wonderful time of year! Now, if the weather would just cool off bit.
ReplyDeleteIt's just struck me looking at your photo, I forgot to take a "first day of school" picture of mine this morning. What has happened to me and my camera, we are not in sync at the moment. I hope tomorrow will be good enough. Enjoy your week Gillian. CJ xx
ReplyDeleteMy two looked a lot like that on their first day, with the sun beating down. I hope everyone has a wonderful return to school and that the routine sorts itself and feels natural soon. Enjoy the week.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy the peace and space. Jacqui x

ReplyDeleteA lovely post-makes me think back to all those years ago, all the promise of those little characters who are now adults making their own way. Enjoy them!
Beautiful post and photos, brings back memories of my sons in their uniforms on the first day, all crisp and new x
ReplyDeleteHere's to some calm. Jo x
ReplyDeleteYes,September brings mixed feelings, slight relief to have a bit of peace and space but sadness too at the quietness of the house.

ReplyDeleteSimply beautiful! I love this post.
ReplyDeleteIt's a bit sad when the children go back to school but it gives so much freedom too.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful picture my dear Gillian. I love that we see light every day, but when we intentionally try to find the light it's amazing how much more we can actually see... Great pictures .
ReplyDeleteFabulous photos!
