8 am, in the bathroom, and the air from the window is cool. (The windowsill is where the orchids go when they start to look a bit twiggy and dead. When they are blooming again they can come back into the general population of the house.)
9 am, and I've snuck back into bed with a cup of tea and my book. The sun is shining, it looks like it might be a nice day.
10 am. We're all up and ready, beds are made and rooms are tidy.
11 am. In our local park, letting the kids blow off some steam.
12 noon. Back home with Radio 4 on in the kitchen while I make a start on some bramble jelly.
1 pm and it's lunchtime. Bacon sandwich and brown sauce.
2 pm. A crafternoon is calling and the modelling clay is out. Bella made cave people for a project she's doing about the stone age. Angus made an alien and a monster. I made beads.
3 pm. One hour later and the figures are baked, cooled and dressed. Tomorrow I'll buy some grey paint so Bella can finish her paper mache cave.
4 pm. John gets home from work.
5 pm and we go out for fish and chips for tea. This time with just the four of us is welcome and precious.
6 pm. Dessert. It's called a Brandy Snap Dream. I've never yet eaten a whole one but I keep trying.
7 pm. A bit of Octonauts viewing before bed, his reward for getting through the Sunday night chore of reading book and spellings.
8 pm. Sofa, a cup of tea, an episode of Lilyhammer on TV, some crochet. That pleasant Sunday night slump feeling.

A photo an hour (ish) over a whole day. It's fun to do this, to remember to get the camera out and use it. It's a pretty typical Sunday all in all, nothing special, just a lot of pottering around the house. How did you spend your Sunday?
I like these hourly photo posts (though I've never done one myself). It sound like a nice day. I love Bella's cave people project, it looks fantastic!

I did think that I would try and do a post like this, but the day I was going to do it I got so immersed in what I was doing that I forgot to take pictures so that didn't work out. Sounds as though you had a good day. Bella's figures are brilliant! xx

Ours started earlier (7am) and was a bit busy in the morning (church, supermarket) but I had a lovely afternoon pottering about at home on my own while my husband took the girls to a birthday party. I also had tea and crochet on the sofa this evening while watching 'Crimes of Passion' on the iplayer. x

A lovely post - this is exactly what I enjoy, seeing how others live their days, even the ordinary ones. And ordinary isn't the same as boring. You have been doing ordinary things, walking in the park, reading, your husband working, your children being creative, enjoying a family meal out ... but collectively they add up to something which transcends ordinary and is something very pleasing: family life at its best.
ReplyDeleteSounds like a good Sunday. My hourly photos, if they included making bramble jelly would probably include a "whoops, the jelly bag slipped and this is the hour I spent cleaning up purple juice from the kitchen". Wonderfully relaxing post.

ReplyDeleteP and I went out to do the supermarket shop and ended up on a spontaneous jaunt around White Rose. Not my favourite place to shop but it was fun to spend some time together and get her a few little treats. That and a lazy lie in pretty much ate up the whole of sunday!

ReplyDeleteOh wow, every time I read a post of yours at the moment I want to join in! Have spent a ridiculous amount of time this morning trying to photograph my mantelpiece. Why am I finding it so hard?! The room doesn't seem to be quite big enough for me to stand far enough away to get everything in and the light falls in a funny way and the numbers on the clock look weird in the photograph, no matter what setting I take it on. Ha ha, anyway, have settled for a less than perfect version and will (hopefully, time this evening allowing) be sharing my own September mantel tomorrow. But now, now, I want to go out and take a photo every hour to join in with this fun too!

I really wanted a morning like yours on Sunday, but with a two year old, it didn't happen. I was feeling a bit sick and just wanted to lie in bed with hot tea and my knitting. Alas, I was up and moving by 7:30am! Really, you can't finish that little sundae by yourself?! Guess that is the American in me - we love our ice cream!

ReplyDeleteWe had a lovely sunday too, relaxing after celebrating two birthsday's in one saturday. A lot of reading and cuddling up on the coach but also a walk finding horse chestnuts. We payed Pinterst a quick visit and the kids made squirrels with the chestnuts while I managed to do a tiny bit of crochet. So cosy!
I love the papier mache cave!! Great cave people too. Sounds a very lovely Sunday...made even better by that dessert!! xx
