A rather exciting thing happened today. August's issue of Style At Home went on sale. Not something I might ordinarily have written in my diary, if I'm honest, but this one was special because our home has been featured! Yes, it's true! I honestly didn't know how to title this post. That Time Our House Was In A Magazine? I Feel Awkward? Fame at Last? I don't know, so I just went with the magazine title. What is the right etiquette in these situations I wonder? Squeal or feign indifference, tell no-one or tell everyone? I feel funny about this. Mainly VERY excited, thrilled, happy and giddy, but also a little embarrassed, a little shy. Silly I know.
I was wondering how to broach it with friends on Facebook but there was no need, my Mum did it for me. She's been possibly more excited than me and as soon as she'd gotten her hands on a copy, she photographed it, uploaded it and tagged me. (My Mum loves social media. It's only a matter of time before she's on Instagram too, so she can embarrass me there as well.)
↑ I suspect they airbrushed the crumbling render on the front of our house...fine by me! If only it really looked like that. |
I always wondered how people got their homes in magazines. Do they email in their photos or are they friends with someone who works on the magazine? Or are they just well connected media types? I thought I'd tell you what happened to me as I am always curious about this sort of thing. Back in February I was contacted by Photoword who look for homes to feature in magazines. They are an independent photographer/writer team, not attached to any one publication. They asked if I was interested and if I could send them some snaps of our house. I was, and I did, and then a few weeks later Colin, the photographer, came and took some "reccy" photos - very quick ones but on a much better camera than mine - to show to a selection magazines. A couple of weeks after that Annabelle, the writer, rang to say that Style at Home were interested and it went from there. Colin came to the house for the day in March (on a gloriously sunny day) and spent all day taking photos. On that morning, there existed a strange state of utter calm, tidiness and cleanliness in our home. It has never been that tidy before and never will again. There's nothing like a photographer coming to motivate me to get those niggley jobs done, sort the piles of clutter, wash the cushion covers.
"Get Gillian's style in 3 buys" - floral suitcase, Orla cushion and fairy lights. Yep, I can't argue with that. |
Colin is such a lovely man - I grilled him on everything he knew about photographing houses, the poor man. and he was very patient with me. I was fascinated by all the details - the magazine requested that I didn't wear heavy woollens in the photos, as it would be a summer edition. Also, no daffodils in any photos, as they are too seasonal. Apparently there is a four month delay between writing or shooting for a magazine, and it's release. I've always been curious about Christmas magazine editions - do all those people deck out their house for Christmas in August?! Well, yes they do, although sometimes a house might be photographed in December and then featured the following autumn. Sorry, I am going on a bit here. It's just that, as someone who's been buying "house-porn", as John calls it, since I was 20, I am fascinated by how all this works. Colin came with a boot full of props, just in case I had no vases. Luckily I have plenty. There were lights and tripods and big lenses and I'm kicking myself for not taking some photos while it was all happening. I spent an hour on the phone to Annabelle who asked me all about our house, then she wrote the article as though I'd written it. About a week later the copy and photos were emailed to me so I could check I was happy with it all, and then it went off to the magazine. I didn't get paid. I didn't ask about money and I didn't do it for money. I agreed as I thought is would be a lot of fun, which is was, and an experience that I wasn't likely to ever have again.
I always thought houses that appeared in magazines had to have something that we didn't have, like huge budgets, fabulous locations, and owners who were always architects, bankers or interior designers. I went off a lot of interiors magazines a while ago as they felt too aspirational to me, just too many industrial apartments, vast London townhouses, and ancient farmhouses with acres of land. Where are all the houses that normal people live in, I wondered. Apparently 32% of Brits live in a semi-detached house. How do all these people decorate their homes, that's what I always wanted to know. Well, I think Style At Home is very good at reflecting a more...achievable style of interior design. The emphasis is on high street buys and make it yourself, and I like that very much.
I feel I should point out now that we've had a broken toilet sitting in our drive for the past ten days. The plumber is supposed to have taken it away after replacing the one in the downstairs loo, but he keeps forgetting. If it stays there much longer I'll have to plant a geranium in it.
Wow! Your home looks amazing! Congratulations on being featured-I can't blame your mum for being excited-I'd be shouting it to strangers in the street! x
ReplyDeleteWell deserved! I adore your 'lived in' homespun aesthetic.
ReplyDeleteSo pleased for you - its so well deserved, your home is even more beautiful than the spread makes it look.
ReplyDeleteI too have a broken toilet seat in my hall, but no plumber and no unbroken seat replacing it!!
That is pretty darn cool. Your home really is beautiful. Congratulations on being featured. If it helps, we're actually using a broken toilet, right here in the house. :)
ReplyDeleteHi Gillian.
ReplyDeleteI've just blogged about you. I was giddy for you when I saw it.
Clicky Needles x
I am glad you enjoyed the experience and that is the important thing. However, the magazine does get paid and people who contribute largely get paid too. Many bloggers get exploited because they are flattered etc. It is simply unethical of the magazines to not pay people when they fill up their magazines for them. It is happening more and more. Writers, photographers, crafters, all have been ripped off and do it because they want publicity etc. All well and good but still not on in my book. I just don't buy the magazines anymore when they don't reward their contributors. After all, the editor got paid, the photographers got paid, feature writers get paid, so do stylists and so the list goes on. It is quite a shocking practice actually. It means it becomes harder and harder to use your talents and skills to earn a living as you are increasingly expected to give it for free. If you don't then someone else will..... You may not mind and that is your prerogative but I think creative people deserve to be paid. All of them. I wish you had been paid for those lovely pages.
ReplyDeletePenny
Hi Penny.
DeleteThank you so for your comment, it was very thought provoking.
When it comes to blogging and making money from blog-related things I am very much feeling my way, learning as I go. I'm never sure what the right or wrong thing to do is and so I trust my instincts. I certainly don't feel exploited in the slightest and look back on all this as a fun and positive experience.
However, I do agree that bloggers can be exploited and that, because many (like me) choose to share things like tutorials for free the expectation is that everything is free, always, I often get emails from people asking basically for free links or plugs and when I tell them what my terms are (which I feel I've earned the right to do through the hard work I've put in building up my blog) they either don't email back, or tell me there is no budget...so they were after a cheeky freebie. That irritates me, yes. And had this been about something I'd made, photographed or written, then I would certainly expect payment, but because someone else did the photographing and writing, I don't feel that I need payment. So I don't feel I've undermined anyone else's ability to make money from their blogs (the magazine have done that, not me - don't shoot the blogger!) but you've certainly given me something to think about Penny, and thank you as I do so enjoy these exchanges of thoughts and ideas!
warmest wishes,
Gillian x
And that should read "thank you so MUCH for your comment"! Sorry...
DeleteHey Gillian,
ReplyDeleteYou have a really beautiful home, Gillian, and you should be giddy with excitement. O would have pumped Colin for information too. I have been buying house porn (love that) for years. I've weaned my self off of it this year, but I am deffo going to go out and buy a copy of this.
Leanne xx
Hi Gillian,
ReplyDeletewhat an exciting thing to happen!!
Congratulations
Maria
Oh, my gosh, how exciting!! Congratulations! I was just having a laugh at myself this morning because I was up late last night rearranging and pulling out all over my living/dining room. I had pieces on the porch waiting for paint this morning, random shelves pulled apart, piles of everything, everywhere. Hubby normally gets off work at midnight right now, but worked late, so we all stayed up, then slept late. Around 10:30, everyone is finally mostly up, dad's getting doughnuts and coffee, when there is a pounding at the door. I yell, "There's dad, someone open the door for him!", Half naked 5 year old comes running back, "No, it's a guy with the laptop!" Oh, Lord - why, WHY is this when the delivery men come? Fortunately at this point in life I can just laugh. I didn't even give him an explanation! Too funny. And I'm so happy to have my laptop back! Anyway, back to you - so you absolutely feel like a celebrity now? Your home is so lovely, I think one of the best things about it is that it is decorated so beautifully, but doesn't look "showcase-y". It does, indeed, look like a HOME. Where people can enjoy each other's company and relax.
ReplyDeleteWow. How exciting for you. I shall have to buy the magazine now. :) Well done. Your home looks beautiful. X
ReplyDeleteHow exciting for you Gilian, both you and your home look so lovely and, from your previous posts about your home, I would say your place was crying out to be featured! You have REAL, true to life style, congratulations! I think a geranium would look rather pretty in the toilet - set off a new trend in the neighbourhood. Happy week to you, xoJoy
ReplyDeleteI'm loving your palpable excitement, and all the peeks at corners of your home we don't normally see.
ReplyDeleteYou're braver than me, I'd never be able to do this, but then I'd never be asked, a) because I don't have your style, and b) because of the six resident four-legged home wreckers who so graciously allow us to share their house sized kennel!
How absolutely wonderful Gillian, well done and I'm delighted your enviable style is reaching a wider audiences. I adore your quirky and desirable creativity and you deserve more people to see what you do. Do enjoy basking in your fame and no false modesty:-)
ReplyDeleteThis is so awesome... Congrats!!! Your home is so lovely and I love how it's decorated. It really is such a happy and inviting space. I don't think I've ever seen a photo of your foyer... it's lovely. And you know how much I adore your kitchen!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on being featured Gillian, you have a lovely home, and what an exciting experience! Now the only thing to do is to get those geraniums in :o) Enjoy the rest of the week.
ReplyDeleteJane x
Fascinating! And I am siding with your mom in her reaction to your adventure :) [I'm not up for Instagram yet though] Thanks for posting the particulars of how the big reveal all came about, Gillian. [ It must be the season for toilet repair...my family just repaired one of ours today!] xx
ReplyDeleteWow - how exciting; you should definitely be shouting about it! Your home looks absolutely beautiful and the whole process sounds fascinating. I don't know about airbrushing the rendering, they'd have to airbrush my entire house! I'll keep an eye out for the magazine in the shops. x
ReplyDeleteOh, congratulations! I used to wish my ex, ex (times 4) house could be in a magazine. I too am a lover of 'house porn' and even got myself a diploma in interior design but had a huge crisis of confidence just before going ahead with my own business.
ReplyDeleteIt's really interesting to know how the whole process works when photographers come. I suspect I'd have been hanging around Colin too and pestering him with questions!
Well done! Must stop off at the newsagent later...
S x
Oh how wonderful!! I will look for the mag! I haven't seen that one before! I normally get "Your Home". Can't wait to see it! All your photos are beautiful! Congrats!
ReplyDeleteYour house looks beautiful, well done. It remines me of house selling, you tidy your house, they photograph it, you look at the lovely pictures and think ooh that looks nice, I could live there !!!! Everyone's house should have a special tidy day, the remainder of the year it can be messy. Sarah
ReplyDeleteI'm not surprised they chose your house. Since I've been following your blog I've loved your photos of your home. Congratulations, well deserved!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations !!! And indeed, I agree with the comments above, your house looks beautiful !!
ReplyDeleteToo bad I cannot get that magazine here in Belgium...
Ps - you made me laugh with the comment of your mom on facebook and maybe soon on instagram ;-)))... Oh my I dread the day my mom will discover social media ;-) - that will be sheer terror for me :-) !
Oh my, how cool is that! You have been featured in a magazine! I said it before: I really like the style of you home. It looks so fresh and comfy! I live in a teeny-tiny appartment right now with my man (45 square meters) but one day we will inherit a big house with an even bigger garden! And I really love your bookcase and your kitchen. You deserve to be in that magazine!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations. How exciting for you. I'll have to pop into the newsagents on my way to work and get myself a copy!
ReplyDeleteHow fantastic for you Gillian!!! It must have been very exciting and very interesting to get to know about the process and see how it all works. I do agree with others, I think that some remuneration would have ben appropriate - if nothing else they should have sent you your own copy of the magazine and a couple for friends and family! However, as Sue said, perhaps it will bring other things and if that is the case it is all good in the end. Your house looks fantastic - render and all! - I will try and remember to pick up a copy of this so that I can read the article properly and then I can brag to other people that my bloggy pal had her home featured! Congratulations to you again!! xx p.s. hope that you get the "geranium pot" situation sorted out soon! xx
ReplyDeleteThank you Amy - they did send me a free copy of the magazine! ;-)
DeleteWhat an exciting thing to happen, and what a beautiful result (though I must say your own photos of your house are just as beautiful). Who knows where all of this may lead...
ReplyDeleteWhat an exciting experience! Your house looks lovely, but I agree that your own photos of your house are just as good.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy the excitement
Caz xx
OOOOOOHHHhh! that's brilliant - I would go for the tell everyone scenario with a top up from mum too! Congratulations Gillian you must be really pleased. Jo x
ReplyDeleteyour house looks lovely! I think you should have been paid too, even if only a very modest amount, we shouldn't be so British when talking about money should we. Still it does sound like a wonderful experience, and I'm liking the geranium toilet plan. perhaps a gnome or two as well!
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh! What a wonderful thing to have happen you... such a credit for all your hard work in making your beautiful house a lovely home for your family!! Well done Gillian... I'm gonna pop out to the shops and buy it on my lunch break! :) Hazel x
ReplyDeleteCongratulations Gillian :) :) :)
ReplyDeleteI think your house is adorable and you really desirve this
I am thinking........................one day you could present us with a house tour ,i am sure evrybody would love this ;)
Have a great day with plenty of sunshine .
lots of love
Lulu
Wow big congrats, your home is beautiful, thank you for sharing it with us :D
ReplyDeleteOh man! supposed to be on a magazine buying ban - but I've just been to Tesco and your mag. fell in my basket - shocking - congrats on being published - your home is lovely - thank you for sharing xxx
ReplyDeleteWow Gillian! How exciting ... must go, just off to the shop for my copy xxx
ReplyDeleteIt's a great article Gillian, yes your home is very worthy of a spread in a house magazine, I love your style and how you put it all together. My mum would have been the same.....she would have loved my blogging antics too! :) x
ReplyDeleteHow wonderful!!!! Congrats!!!! The geranium sounds like a wonderful idea!!!! Have a fab week!!!!
ReplyDeleteLove
AMarie xxx
Absolutely brilliant! You've answered probably all the questions I've ever had about having your house featured in a magazine. My brother's was in a build it magazine many years ago but that's a bit different. Well done. I'm sure it was an unforgettable experience.
ReplyDeleteGillian, that is SO utterly fabulous! Awesome! Your must feel so proud that your handiwork is being admired by so many people! I hope you totally treated yourself to something! Have you been stopped in the street yet and asked for some style tips?! :)
ReplyDeleteNo, but a mum at school came up to me and said "Are you Gillian? I've been looking at your house in my magazine!" and that was embarrassing but she's lovely so hopefully I've made a new friend there! x
DeleteWow, how exciting, so now I'll have to look out for that probably about October here. You certainly put us in the loop on how it all works and I found that so interesting. I've bought that particular one a couple of times, but usually stick to Country Living, Country Homes & Interiors (which I've bought for "many" years) and now also get both Landscape and Landlove. Hope you are enjoying summer as it is so cold here it's not funny. Take care.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations again! So glad you're showing all the pages here - I've studied them all in detail since I can't buy the magazine.
ReplyDeleteWill not introduce my husband to the "house-porn"-notion since I've a lot of it.
I love your home and so understand your joy of showing it in the magazine!
Hi Gillian
ReplyDeleteI'm not surprised your house made the grade - its gorgeous, and that was so interesting to read how it all works - who knew !
Just off to the magazine bit at Sainsburys .......
Kate x
I think "Fame at last" is appropriate! Congrats!!!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations Gillian! It's absolutely wonderful and of course you should be chuffed. I'm very impressed that you could keep this a secret for so long without even giving us a hint this was coming up!!! I'm becoming weary of all the aspirational magazines that I used to enjoy in my 20's. Now, I just want to see how normal people really live and what you have shown in the magazine is an extension of what we have seen in your blog and I really love that. Love your style. A friend of mine will be featured in an interiors magazine in a couple of months and she said there was an entire team of stylists etc in her home for the whole day, lounges were removed, everything else rearranged, things added and the pets were photoshopped out of the photos!!! Mel xxx
ReplyDeleteTwo days? Stylists? Wow! I think that sounds like a different kind of interiors magazine. There was minimal rearrangement, like hiding wires and moving shoes, but other than that it's pretty honest. Actually, I'd really love to see a stylist at work and try and learn some tips from them, that would be brilliant! x
DeleteWow! How exciting! It must be great/ tiny bit wierd to see your home in a magazine. It was really interesting reading about the process.
ReplyDeleteSuch a beautiful home. Your crafts certainly add to it x
ReplyDeleteThis is really exciting, Gillian!! Congratulations!! I've been catching up on your posts as things have been rather hectic round here with all the school assemblies, ballet and tap shows, 2 birthday parties to organise, sports days etc... and I hadn't had the chance to comment.....(every evening I've ended up crashing in the sofa feeling rather exhausted by it all !!). I loved hearing about your camping adventures... they sounded like fun and the idea of having a little wooden hut seems more appealing than a tent... I've never been a fan of camping but glamping seems like a cool option. Your blog hop post was also interesting and I've enjoyed reading about your crafting processes too. I think you have a particular style and colour palette that is very you, I would probably call it a bit "cool retro chic" (if that is a valid definition...). Have a lovely weekend and enjoy the glorious sunshine!! It's wonderful here in London today! Pati xx
ReplyDeleteCool retro chic - I love it! x
DeleteHow exciting!!! If there's a house that should be in a home magazine it's yours because it's always so stylish and lovely. Congratulations!! I can't wait to get a copy of Style At Home now! x
ReplyDeleteYour house looks fantastic, what a lovely thing to have done! Great to read about how the magazines work too.
ReplyDeleteHow exciting for you, it sounds like huge fun & so interesting to read about the experience too!
ReplyDeleteIt is soooo great! Super!
ReplyDeleteOh that is super cool, well done! :)
ReplyDeleteCongratulations Gillian, it's a wonderful article. Your style sense is awesome, and i'm sure you will inspire many a person reading that copy! Whenever I have a 'blitz' day in my house, the bears ask 'who's coming over?'. Like I only tidy when people visit! I think if anyone from a magazine came to my house, they'd be shocked! It would take me years (and a few skips) to get it looking decent! I'm glad you had a lovely experience, and have a lovely keepsake of a visible time in your life. xxxxx
ReplyDeleteOoo I read this magazine haven't picked up my copy yet...very excited to see your lovely home. x
ReplyDeleteCongratulations - what a fantastic experience. I think squealing is definitely in order as is jumping up and down. I will have to go and buy that magazine now.
ReplyDeleteps flowers in old toilets are very urban chic... think Alys Fowler. :-)
Wonderful! Kudos! Enjoy your moment in the spotlight...a reward for being you and sharing that with us! God Bless!
ReplyDeleteThis. Is. Amazing! I am super impressed - I would love to get my hands on a copy to have a closer look. Your home is fantastic! Well done and congrats! x
ReplyDeletePS I used to work for a gift stationery company and we were always working a couple of seasons ahead (so designing for Xmas in March, Spring in Autumn... quite disconcerting in a way!)
Yes, of course - and I used to work in retail and we'd be planning the Christmas campaign in August. I'd forgotten all about that! x
DeleteHow fabulous! That is so great, hugs,
ReplyDeleteMeredith
How wonderful for you, congratulations! :-) Tracey xx
ReplyDeleteCongratulations Gillian! I loved seeing you in print....I am so excited for you and your home is gorgeous. I really enjoyed reading a bit more about the whole home interiors magazine process too, as I have often wondered the same questions! This is fantastic and the magazine will be a wonderful keepsake for you.
ReplyDeleteMarianne x
Such exciting news, well done! I'm the same as you, buying the magazines for years and wondering how people got their houses featured. Did they make contact through your blog?
ReplyDeleteI would have to hire a team of staff;cleaners, gardeners, decorators etc before I could let a photographer in!
Yes they did, they sent me an email out of the blue, which was rather nice!
Deleteoh! I'd like to buy a copy but it's the August 2014 issue!!!!!!! How can I find it here in Italy????????????
ReplyDeleteToday I'll look for it I must.
Lovely, lovely, lovely blog (found through Attic24), I visit you let us say five days a week......... go on this way, ciao, Antonella
Hi Antonella, thanks so much. I don't think it's available in Italy, but thank you for the blog love!
DeleteInteresting - I always wondered how this worked too. I may even buy a copy. Just to show my husband and say I 'know' you so he can roll his eyes and say 'JEEsus' in that special way of his. Ha ha.
ReplyDeleteHello, I found you from through the keyhole. Fab post - I too had always wondered how people got their homes in magazines, and assumed they knew the editor somehow. I love the photos of your home and all the unique handmade touches. very inspirational. Teresa x
ReplyDeletethat's great Gillian, I will have a look out for it!.........exciting! love that your Mum is brandishing it around for you! X
ReplyDeleteCongratulations Gillian! I love your blog and your crafts. Your house looks very welcoming and warm. Enjoy the moment!
ReplyDeleteGosh, how exciting! I've often wondered how people get their houses in these magazines too. I also used to buy loads of "house porn" mags when I was younger and also went off them for precisely the same reasons - the houses became too grand and too boring - I much prefer real houses with real stuff. I've just finished redecorating our living room (just putting the last bits back then will photograph it) and to keep me going along the way I kept referring to the cut-outs of my old "housey-mags" as I used to call them that I have kept in various ringbinders. I have about 8(!) ringbinders filled with excerpts, most from the late nineties / early 2000's. I thoroughly enjoyed looking through them as it's been several years since I last did so. Your house looks lovely in the magazine, and when you've shown it on your blog. Well done!
ReplyDeleteThat sounds like old-school pinterest! Love it.
DeleteHa, Gillian! That's so brilliant!!! Your home looks fabulous. I much prefer see pictures of 'real' people's homes. They're so much more interesting and inspiring.
ReplyDeleteI should be frightened to death that I'd overlooked something that an eagle-eyed reader might spot like a stray pair of knickers or blob of Pedigree Chum on the skirting board!
I'm now going to enlarge and scrutinise the picture of your bookshelf - you must have a stash of well-thumbed Barbara Cartlands hidden there somewhere!!! ;-)
Tickled pink for you flower. xx
No, no Barbara Cartland, but probably a lot of dodgy crime fiction! Romantic novels were never my thing, but give me a good murder mystery any day... x
DeleteI will buy a copy tomorrow ... provided there are any left! And I write that kind of property porn and yes, they are written early in the year for Christmas issues, or photo shoots are done a year in advance. Your home looks lovely - I'm longing to see it properly in the mag and not just on the screen! Well done, you!
ReplyDeleteMargaret P
What a great experience and thanks for letting us all have a good old nosey round your house. No chance whatsoever of this place being in a magazine, unless they need a dump for some 'before' pictures.
ReplyDeleteA plant in a loo made everyone laugh when it was on One Foot in the Grave ... remember that? Seriously, a geranium in it might set a trend ... it could be the latest piece of conceptual art ... it might even make it to the Royal Academy's summer exhibition ... of course, asking your husband to water it mightn't go down well with the neighbours if he decided to water it in the time-honoured way ...
ReplyDeleteMargaret P
How exciting an experience for you! It was interesting to read about how these things happen. It sounds as though you enjoyed it all, well maybe apart from the tidying!
ReplyDeleteYour home looks wonderful, Your mum's reaction made me giggle!
I have just read your post about camping too. It sounds like a wonderful compromise being in a pod rather than under a tent. I bet the children had a brilliant time playing outside/
Lisa x
Congratulations and how exciting. I bought a copy today and your house looks great. I can't believe how many extra inspiration pages you're included on too! You absolutely deserve it and, like some of your other readers, hope it leads to other things. x
ReplyDeleteCongatulations, I'm looking forward to reading the magazine. Great to hear how you got the feature and get a bit of an insider idea of how it works. I've been a subscriber to another house mag since it came out and have kept most issues much to my husband's horror. Maybe one day....katie x
ReplyDeleteHow wonderful Gillian, you have worked hard to create a really beautiful and stylish home, you should be very proud of being chosen. You have arrived! CJ xx
ReplyDeleteWow! That is truly amazing and I am so pleased for you. It is wonderful that a home can be appreciated which isn't a 1 million pound filled with expensive antiques place, but one put together with love and talent. This may sound odd but I am really proud of you! I'm going to get the mag this afternoon! Xxxx
ReplyDeleteWell done Gillian, your interior design ideas are gorgeous and your home is lovely, stylish but also 'real' not a show-home.
ReplyDeleteWow! What a great thing for you to do! Your house looks gorgeous. As it always does, I might add, in all your blog posts. You work very hard and deserve some recognition. Good on you!
ReplyDeleteThank you Sue - Penny's comment really got me thinking. It honestly never occurred to me to ask for or expect payment until afterwards. I've replied to Penny's comment in a sort of rambling way, trying to explain my thoughts behind money and blogs. x
ReplyDeleteCongratulations Gillian. Your house, your home looks fab featured in the magazine (I bought a copy today to see the pictures close up...stalker-ish? not too much I hope!!). xx
ReplyDeleteCongratulations Gillian, I got a copy today and spent a lovely half hour with a cuppa nosing around your house, how beautiful it is too! I will be using some of your tips too, designer pillowcases with basic sheets - genius! Enjoy your glory - you deserve it! C x x
ReplyDeleteWonderful and so exciting Gillian. Going to see if I can get my hands on a copy xo
ReplyDeleteHow exciting, Gillian! Your house is lovely, and I'm so happy that it was featured in a magazine.
ReplyDeleteI saw your house in my 'house porn' magazine and looked up your blog. Your house looks wonderful and has given me loads of inspiration. Well done x
ReplyDelete
