And the Winner is...

...Karen at A Quiet Corner! Karen, if you could email me your address, I will pop your goodies in a jiffy bag post haste.

Thank you, thank you, thank you to all of your who entered. I wish I had something to send all of you, but sadly not.  Instead, please join me for a virtual cup of tea and a slice of apple loaf cake (recommend to me by my sister, Katy - recipe found here).

I'm sorry I couldn't reply to the comments on my Giveaway post. I try to reply to comments as much as possible, as I value them enormously, and it feels like I am having a kind of conversation with you all. But I am short on time lately, and find it increasingly hard to reply. But I will try to visit all your blogs instead. If I just had a few more hours in each day...

It was so fabulous to hear from you all. It was extra special to hear from those who stop by but don't comment (which is fine and dandy!) so I sort of feel like we've said Hi. Hello there! And, to Jenny who asked, I use a Canon DSLR 1000D. We bought it for a total bargain a while back as they were about to release a new and improved model. I mostly use the automatic-no-flash button, but if I have time to play around and am feeling brave, I use it in manual mode.

Thank you for your lovely comments about our shoe box kitchen . I dithered about whether or not to post it, as I thought people may think it was a slightly ridiculous, but I'm so glad you all "got it". We have entered the competition, and I'm dying to see other entries. I so wish it was my kitchen...that's part of the fun I suppose. Next...my dream country bedroom...

Have a wonderful weekend everyone. x

  1. Congratulations to Karen :D

I know exactly what you mean about keeping up with comments. Some folk email, some reply on the post, some do both, others visit readers blogs ... it could quickly become a full time job. What's working for me is replying in the comments where I feel I have something to say and have time, commenting on as many of the bloggers blogs as I can, and emailing the non-bloggy folk. But I had over 60 comments on my last post ... that's going to take some responding to! And as you said to me before, if we don't spend enough time doing stuff in the real world we have nothing to blog about in the virtual one.

That cake looks delicious, thanks for the link :D

  6. First up, I want a slice of that cake! I looked at the recipe ... it mentioned blackberries but perhaps you just left those out. I might try this recipe as I love apple in cakes ... I do a mean toffee apple cake, with the apples on top.
Next, I love that apple mug! Is it available from anywhere online? I'm not actually a 'mug' person and really rather prefer cups and saucers, but I'd make the exception with this one, it looks like it's porcelain, not pottery, and has such a pretty apple design. Wonderful for this time of the year.
Been in the summerhouse today, sunshine pouring in (unlike the rain which is deluging the north of England!)

    1. I've just looked again at the recipe and can't see a mention blackberries, but it doesn't tell you how long to bake it for - I baked mine for an hour.

The mug is by Emma Bridgewater and was a limited edition one from about a year ago, in conjunction with Copella apple juice. You sent off some tokens and £5 for postage - I wish I'd drunk more apple juice and ordered more as I love her mugs. It is pottery but very nice to drink from.

  7. No, on looking again, I think that is a pottery mug. But still really pretty!

  10. Hello there from your latest follower.
Just wanted to leave you a little comment, but this could get a bit long!
I have read back through your archives and was delighted to see a photo of my late dad's radio which I listen to Radio4 on! Living just down the coast from P'mouth we spent a couple of very happy holidays when I was younger in Hayling Island.
As I write this I have a tea loaf baking in the oven from the recipe you shared, hopefully it'll be just the thing after our walk this afternoon.
As a thankful for sharing your recipes I thought you might like to have a look at http://www.shakeupyourwakeup.com/breakfast-ideas for further ideas for your weekend breakfasts.

    1. Hi Lisa - thanks so much for your comment. I'm glad you enjoyed looking back through old posts, and I hope the tea loaf recipe delivers! It was given to me by a friend and has become a firm favourite in our house.

Thanks for the link to the breakfast website - they have some delicious sounding ideas. I haven't done any weekend breakfast posts for a while, you've inspired me to try some more out! x

    2. The tea loaf was indeed delish. I did post a pic of mine and did a link back to your recipe too.
I did a few of those recipes back at the start of the year and there is a fab photo of my daughter trying one of the smoothies which she hated! Hope your little ones like the recipes you try!

Hello there! Thank you for leaving a comment. I read them all and I always try to answer questions, although sometimes it takes me a while.
